I want to tell you the real story — not the campaign version, but the actual one. Where the idea came from. Why the circle. Why jade.
On Jade
"Jade like mountains, like flowing water —
and all is well, and all is calm."
There is something in a good piece of jade that quiets things. When I hold the Peace Amulet — really look at it — something in the day settles.
It Started With
The Circle
平安扣 — píng'ān kòu — the Peace Amulet. A flat circular jade disc with a hole through the centre. What I wanted to understand was why this shape, specifically, had lasted for millennia.
The circle is not decorative — it is the whole point. The proportions are fixed. The relationship between the outer diameter, the inner hole, and the thickness of the jade ring are all intentional. The hole represents what passes through: good fortune enters, harm exits.

We source before we design. The Peace Amulet earrings began with finding the jade — the right translucency, the right depth of green — and then determining what form would honour it.

This is jade at its finest hue.
A green full of light, like mist rolling down a quiet mountain. The disc turns and the jade responds — there is no fixed angle, no single "good side."

You are not looking for the deepest green — you are looking for the green that seems lit from within. That is the quality we select for, every time.
In Natural Light
The jade in the Peace Amulet earrings has this quality. In morning light it reads as soft and cool. Against warm skin tones it becomes richer.
Natural jade — every shade is a matter of fate. We do not dye, treat, or enhance the stone. What you see in the photographs is what arrives at your door.

The Peace Amulet (平安扣) connects most directly to two of the five jade intentions: protection and love. The circle is completion — what you carry into the day fully formed.

The Only Honest Choice
All solid 18K gold. Not because of prestige — because of honesty. Jade outlasts almost everything. A setting that flakes or fades is an insult to a stone that may be older than most cities.

The Peace Amulet earrings are handcrafted in Hong Kong. Setting jade in gold requires a different approach from setting diamonds. Jade cannot be forced into a mount — the gold must be formed around the stone. That knowledge cannot be automated.

Why This Shape Specifically
平安 — píng'ān — peace and safety. You give a peace amulet to someone you want to protect. In Taoist philosophy, void is not absence — it is the space through which things move.
The Philosophy
Good fortune passes in. What should not stay, passes out. The circle is not closed. It is complete.
I designed the Peace Amulet earrings to work with a simple tee, a solid cashmere sweater, or a deep-coloured coat. Letting the jade speak — with nothing else.

I often believe this is the quiet secret to feeling full and content: wearing something with a reason. Not just an object you acquired, but a form with a philosophy behind it.
